Position Overview

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will be responsible for expanding and enhancing our client’s technology function to ensure it becomes an integral part of their service solutions.

The CTO is an executor and the visionary force with a view to delivering our position as a tech-enabled service partner for our clients and will have ability to work across the business to create a unifying technology vision and help solve complex problems. They will be a strategic technology leader with significant (15+ years) experience in designing, developing, and deploying integrated innovative platforms and solutions to market. They will have proven capabilities in agile and user centered design methodologies, product development, data science/analytics, AI/ML, e-commerce and automation.

They will be a researcher, educator, and organizational Development Leader, with a significant track record of leading teams with a focus on people development and strong collaboration to foster innovation and excellence. They will identify and fill the capability gaps required to achieve the vision, attracting industry leading talent and creating a technology first culture within and across the organization.

With the team as its foundation, the CTO will be unafraid to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve an Agile design. The CTO will also work closely with the technology team, ELT and Board to identify, engage and integrate targeted technology acquisitions to drive innovation and open new revenue opportunities across EPG.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development of overall technology vision and strategic roadmap to differentiation from competition
  • Design and implement the overall technological organizational structure to transform from a vertical to a horizontal function – Scaling a high-performing, accountable, and fast-moving software business unit
  • Planning and directing all aspects of the Technology group, with direct accountability for acquiring market leading talent, managing internal/external resources
  • Ensuring a high-performance leadership culture, with a senior leadership team, for all technical teams including specialist functions such as design, production, QC and R&D ETC
  • Enable to mobilize proprietary data as well as external data through effective aggregation and analysis
  • Constantly looking for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, not afraid of challenging the status quo
  • Understanding competitive environment and ensuring we stay ahead of the market
  • Identify potential acquisitions required to deliver the vision and lead execution on their integration
  • Strong communication skills with ability to align the organization on complex technical decisions
  • Active coach and mentor whose goals are to grow and maximize the team’s potential
  • Leadership experience of diverse groups of people and strategies. Experience leading an organization with several functional areas is required
  • Budget planning and management experience is required

Job Requirements

  • 15+ years experience in technology to the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry with sophisticated understanding of competitors, opportunities and trends within the landscape
  • High profile within the market, perceived as thought leader and expert in healthcare technology
  • Track record of new product, module and service introductions, repositioning to new markets as evidenced by profitable growth, portfolio diversification, and expansion of market share
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading and implementing innovative technology solutions in an agile environment across geographies and cultures
  • Significant experience working with a complex suite of products. Experience building a “productization” framework around product management focus and priorities
  • A strong track record of delivering highly competitive and disruptive solutions while meeting or exceeding revenue, margin and delivery commitments.
