Director, Health Economics

Job Description:

Our pharmaceutical client is seeking a talented individual to join its Health Economic, Pricing analytics group. The Director of Health Economics is responsible for defining and implementing global health economic strategies in an effort to optimize reimbursement and demand for products focused around Cystic Fibrosis, and future pipeline products.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify and obtain health Economic (HE) data required to support medical and commercial plans
  • Assure compliance with sound principles of economic assessment
  • Work closely with Marketing and other functions to develop US (and global) value economic and pricing strategies
  • Manage creative agencies in the development of innovative/effective communication tools for HE information
  • Manage the preparation of HE data and tools for dossiers and formulary packages and answers to HE data inquiries from payers and pricing authorities.
  • Lead cross-functional corporate and business partnership teams on the development and implementation of HE plans and integration into commercial strategies
  • Maintain awareness of evolving US and global healthcare markets and the needs of health care decision-makers to inform development of value and pricing strategies
  • Coordinate core HE training activities and support field-based personnel with successful implementation, build out department as portfolio expands
  • Ensure effective HE support of Managed Markets Account Management team in market development and access activities for key brands
  • Manage HE budget

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the sciences with a preference for a graduate level degree in a related field of study (e.g. PharmD, PhD, MD, MPH)
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in health economics, outcomes research and pricing functions
  • 4+ years of managing or leading project teams is preferred, experience in developing and managing teams and working in cross functional environment is essential
  • Health care industry experience and in-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical business including R&D, clinical and marketing, as well as a good understanding of managed care;
  • Related therapeutic experience is preferred, specialty pharmacy category (e.g. HIV, MS, Oncology, etc.) experience considered a plus
  • Experience in developing innovative communication strategies and tools to support brand and/or disease value propositions are essential. Experience in developing and/ or utilizing HE tools is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required as is the ability to understand and respond to multiple internal and external customer requests and manage conflict constructively with minimal supervisory support required
